PRAYER OUR MINISTRY
The
prayer time in church today is many times just a ritual. In fact the prayer meetings in the church are
usually the least attended meetings in the church. Have you ever thought about it? Why don’t we put much emphasis into
pray? Oh yes when we have a problem we
always want to invoke the assistance from the Lord but we usually toss it up to
Him with a final; “not my will but thine be done.” It’s because our unanswered prayers have
caused confusion; we feel abandoned and isolated. We might even question God’s character and
integrity. We question; Is He in the
prayer answering business? We might even
find ourselves making excuses or like some denominations creating doctrines like; that was only for the
apostolic dispensation, for why our prayers aren’t answered, covering for God,
as it were. Before this study is over I
believe we will be able to pray this with the same confidence that Jesus
did.
“This
is the confidence we have in approaching God; that if we ask anything according
to his will, he hears us. And if we know
that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.”
1John5:14-15
Jer. 33:3”Call to me and I will
answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.”
Thank God Miles Monroe took this
scripture to heart and got a revelation about prayer that has changed my life. This offering is is a condensed version of his
book “Understanding the Purpose and Power of Prayer” with my personal
embellishments. (I suggest you do the
same; take the information and add your personal stories and teach it.
LET’S START WITH PRAYER.
(God heal us from the spiritual and emotional effects that
unanswered prayer has worked into our lives and give us a teachable spirit so
that we may embrace this revelation and even more help us to get beyond the philosophizing and patronizing and let it become the most important part of our life.
JESUS PERSONAL COMMITMENT TO PRAYER
Jesus got up and prayed 3 to 5
hours before the disciples even got up.
Of all the things the disciples observed Jesus doing the only thing they
asked Him to teach them was to pray. He
always prayed alone, they wanted to know what He was doing for so long and why
was it so important to Him.
This article is the second in a
series to prepare us to be God’s Amen People.
So for a foundational understanding please read; “God’s Big Idea” first. It
explains God’s plan to establish Heaven on earth and man’s role or purpose in
that plan. Prayer is the protocol; the
process whereby man intercedes like Jesus did to hear and visualize the
intention of God and utilizes the faith process of speaking of those things
that are not as though they are so that the provision of Heaven can be manifest
to impact the needs on earth.
THE ADAMIC SYSTEM
Because we are the seed of Adam our
indoctrination came from the Adamic kingdom, money along with a little
ingenuity is thought to be the answer to most problems. Its true money provides autonomy, if we have
it, we can do what we want. But in the
scheme of God’s purpose for our lives it has been found to be rather
counterproductive. In the Adamic kingdom
the “I” is exalted. In the Kingdom of
Heaven the highest position is servant of the least. The parable of the prodigal teaches us that
people who are self-sufficient typically don’t need God, Jesus word to the Rich
Young Ruler was; where your treasure is there will your heart be also. You cannot serve God and money.
A little clarification hopefully
will turn on the lights. The past is a
memory, the future is a dream, and this moment is actually the only thing that
is real; that’s why they call it the present.
Our dreams caught up in the Adamic system is what enslaves us. In the moment I have probably eaten too much,
I have a roof over my head, I can only ware one pair of pants at a time, I have
transportation, friends who care and I live in a country that has a system that
provides resources and healthcare if I am unable to pay for them. My needs are met. What I worry about is usually something I
want; an entitlement; something My
Wanter Wants. I may be lusting for
something I believe is a need. This
stress can cause me to dig deeper into the Adamic system.
This system protacall suggests
that we work hard (make money) and save it so that sometime in the future we
can get off the treadmill and enjoy the fruits of our labor. So we convert our labor into $$$ which we put
into the system for safe keeping so that we can use it at a later date, oops!
The system isn’t working very well. In
fact our wanters, in Western society especially, are so out of control we
typically can’t save. We want stuff so
bad that we can’t even wait until we can afford to buy it. We have bought into the credit system and
most are on a treadmill where our bills exceed our income. We own nothing the system owns it and we are
paying for it monthly, if we just have a hiccup and can’t go to work we are at
risk of losing everything we think we own.
Jesus told us to "REPENT" THIS MEANS TO "RETHINK"
Being a son of God means we are
the contact point between the realm of Heaven and the earthly realm. Think about everything we have the privilege
to ask God to impart on behalf of the needs on earth; faith, hope, love, healing,
deliverance, power, protection, provision, endurance, patience, authority, grace,
mercy, righteous justice, praise, thanksgiving confidence, vision, prophecy, boldness
and peace.
Jesus was the living breathing
expression of the image and likeness of the Father. “I and the Father are one; if you’ve seen me
you’ve seen the father.” He was the Amen
of God. He said; “I can only do what I
see my Father do and I can only say what I hear my father say.” The manifestation of God’s power will never
contradict His Will. Therefore prayer is not like going to an earthly father
where we might try to manipulate him on an emotional level to give us what we
want. God is not moved by emotion. He is a Judge whose responsibility it is to
make sure we get what is rightfully ours, what His government says we should
get. He is watching over His word to
Perform It. God who by virtue of
creation owns everything, wanted to make sure that His children were cared
for. So because He is in another realm
He revealed His intention via the Holy Spirit to His prophets, Kings and
apostles. He told them to write down my
will. God’s will tells us about our
inheritance. Make a document, (it is
actually the constitution of His Government) that speaks in His absence. The bible is a Testament or a written
testimony of our inheritance as children of God. Jesus described it to us as a Kingdom.
Think about the methodology by
which God introduced His Kingdom. Jesus
demonstrated that the Kingdom of heaven had come to earth by the miracles he
performed. He said; “Greater thing than
I have done shall ye do because I go to the Father.” This article will discuss the protocol of
prayer. In essence man’s job is to re-present
Jesus. Demonstrate that the power of
Heaven has come to earth; we have the privilege to perceive the needs on earth
and give God earthly license for Heaven’s intervention of those needs.
Jesus said; “I will give you the
keys to the Kingdom, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven,
whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” Although the Keys have been given, for the most part we
still don’t know how to use the keys. If
I give you the key to my house it will get you in the door but there are many
rooms in my house so you might get in the front door but not necessarily have
access to all the rest of the house without learning which key goes in which lock.
To understand prayer
you must understand God’s purpose for man
Gen 1:26 Let us make man (plural)
mankind in our image (He gave us the
ability to express His spirit, nature and character) and in our likeness He gives us the ability to function
like He does, by faith not by sight. God
believes then He see’s, but man typically want to see something before he believes)
and let them have dominion." He didn’t say; Let Us have dominion. God spoke and a law was created…a law which
limited His power and put us into partnership with Him.
God is therefore not
totally sovereign, He has partnered with us!
1. God
is only as sovereign as His word
2. God
has chosen to limit Himself to His word
3. God
has chosen never to violate His world
4. God’s
holiness is the protection for His word
5. When
God speaks, His word becomes law.
Psalm 138:7 “I have put my word
above my name.” Therefore it is illegal
for God to intervene on earth unless a humus/man gives Him the authority to do
it.
Have you ever heard people who
doubt there is a God say; If there is a loving God then why is there so much
evil in the world? Well it didn’t happen
on His watch it happened on our watch. Because
we did not seek the Kingdom and how it works Satan has been having a field day with
our usurped authority. It’s time we
understand our role and take our authority back. It’s time we start exercising our
dominion.
An unenlightened man is in the state of
Rebellion. In this state of being all
manner of evil exists…evil is the word given to describe the absence of
God. I refer to all the governmental
systems of the world the Adamic kingdom and this is what we must repent
of. The United States Constitution was
created to provide structure to a humanity that was under God or
self-governed. Here is our problem, typically
when we have a crisis we want to get over the crisis, put a band aid on our
problem and keep moving in the same direction because it is our comfort
zone. On an individual level the only way
we will overcome this evil is by experiencing his grace and becoming one with God being led by the Holy
Spirit. The only way we will overcome it
on a national level or a global level is for we who have been in lightened continue to demonstrate that the kingdom of heaven has come to earth now.
Prayer is a function of God’s family business, it is the governmental activity between Heaven and its colony; Earth.
Isaiah said in the 7th
Chapter; “I see a mystery I see a man with God inside of Him. E man u El”
Jesus was Emanuel; Jesus said;
“I only do what I see my father do, I only say what I hear my father say.”
The father does not do
anything on earth without the humas/dirt man/spirit giving Him authority
because he has given the all the dominion to his son.
Jesus said; “He has given me
this authority because I am the son of man not because I am the son of God.”
The father loves the son and
shows him all things. When we perceive a
need our understanding should be that God made the provision for that need long
ago but he was not able to get the healing or provision to the person because no
Humasman; no special agent whose job it is to discover the need and through
prayer, pitition, (a court action) present a legal case before the court of heaven on
behalf of the need. Once we have a court
decision granting the provision of Heaven for the Earthly need we become the
delivery system. We speak the court
decree; we should write it down and give it to the one we have prayed for. This FAITH STATEMENT is a seed, the Title Deed, the
guarantee from the Father that His will, “WILL BE DONE.” All seeds have everything they need to complete their job, but they have a gestation period. So leave the seed in the fertile ground of faith and thank the Lord in advance for the provision.
The father doesn’t give any
rights directly, He has given that right to the Sons; John 5:27 and he has
given him authority to judge because He is the son of Man. We are doing the work of the Lord. Whomever sins you forgive I will forgive.
Therefore God is waiting on
us…”If my people who are called by my name will call upon my name and I will
heal their Land.” We are in the midst of
God’s great love call. We don’t
recognize it yet but the blinders are coming off. “I am a jealous God; I will have no other
God’s before me.” We have become so
enamored with the creation that we have put it before our love for the creator. I became jealous for the things of this
earth, things, nouns. Things that I
thought I needed. Well there was a time
when I moved from a half acre horse ranch into one room and a storage unit. It was the most liberating experience in my
life. I began to look at some of these
items I thought I owned asking; do I keep it, store it, sell it or give it away. I soon began to say this thing isn’t even
worthy of the time it takes me to make a decision as to what to do with
it. So I just made a big pile and gave
it all away.
In our American society, we have included the right to seek happiness. That is not a biblical principle. Because it causes us to focus on the outside world and our lack in most cases. We spend a lifetime in a roll reversal, where I am God, and God is the bellhop in the sky, and the manifestation of my wealth and happiness is the testimony of the goodness of God . The reality is that we were created for his pleasure and to do his bidding therefore, our seeking should be to be a continuation of the very nature of Jesus who was an unconditional lover, solving everyone else’s problems. Ask not what your kingdom can do for you but ask what you can do for your kingdom. You will find that the upmost satisfaction is found in the gratitude that you receive from your unconditional, loving interconnection with humanity.
The process of God’s love
call those who are righteous meaning those who are in right standing with God
will already be functioning in their role as Sons, The Amen of God and when
they realize these things have; taken priority over the Lord it is easy to give
them up so that we can be about our father’s business telling people about the
Good News, the Kingdom is inside you.
DL Moody was concerned that he didn’t accomplish as much
as he could by the use of prayer
Observe how God dealt with Moses; “Why comest thou to me,
I will do as you say.”
Every single act of God recorded in the bible required human participation for it to be manifest on earth.
10 steps for personal
preparedness for prayer
1. Appropriate
God’s Grace: Acknowledge God‘s holiness, turn away from your sins, and be
cleansed by acknowledging Gods gift, the sacrificial blood of Christ has redeemed you.
2. Put
on Righteousness: appropriate the righteousness of Christ through faith. Live in right standing, doing what is right by
keeping his law which guarantees our freedom.
3. Put
On The Truth and Honesty: Be transparent
and clean before the Lord, desiring truth in the innermost parts and living
with integrity
4. Cleanse
yourself with the Word: Before you come to God, research the Constitution, the Bible is case law, every story in The Bible expresses how God adjudicated each in discretion. So that you can know the will of God before you ask, and your prayer petition, will just be an open and shut case.
5. Worship
and Praise God: Honor and Worship God in
spirit and in truth (John 4:22-24) acknowledging Him as your All in All. He has promised to inhabit those who praise him.
6. Separate
Yourself: Remove yourself from your
normal environment, activities and distractions. Find the place in God where He meets you by
coming to Him with the right heart, attitude, and motives. Remember Jesus did this daily for 2 or 3
hours before his disciples got up.
7. Believe: Have faith in God’s power to do what He has
promised and in the effectiveness of Christ’s sacrifice. By Speaking of those things that are not as though they are.
8. Give
God Glory: Confess that God is the One
who has accomplished your atonement, forgiveness, healing and reconciliation with Him, and
is worthy to be praised, Give to others
out of the abundance God has given you.
9. Wash
in the Word: Ask God to fulfill His
purposes based on His will and the promises in the Word.
10. Remain
in the Anointing: Remain in a state of
preparedness for prayer. Honor the Lord
by reflecting His nature and character in your life.
Principles from page
90 (Understanding the Purpose and Power of Prayer
By Miles Monroe
The Lord’s Prayer is a seminar on prayer!
Mark 1:35 Jesus said; Pray after this manner; Our father…he is not
a private father He is the one who supports the work of his hand. If you think about it; most of our prayers
are my father…I’m usually asking Him for something I need. If I’ve prayed; “Give us this day our daily
bread. Meaning; provide for me everything I need to sustain me for this day and
then I keep asking Him to do something related to my provision, then I’m
actually focusing more on the lack of provision rather than praising Him and
walking in faith by speaking of those things that are not as though they are. Agape describes the love that God wants us to
express. For that to happen we have to
get to the point that Jesus attained; “Everything I need I get from my
father.” Abraham was to be a blessing to
all the nations of the world. He was the
delivery system from the heavenly realm to the earthly realm; he took on the
role of servant becoming the connection to, (Abba/source.)
Who art in Heaven, we are acknowledging that we need help from a
greater source than what is already on earth…His storehouse not here, it is in the heaven realm, you ask Him to impart The power from the realm of heaven you to meet the needs
on earth
Hallowed be thy name…By right of creation He owns everything and
deserves all the praise.
Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done…Jesus said; pray in this manner.
This is a general proclamation, this is our part in the partnership; the
authority has been given to the Humas-man.
Through prayer we perceive the intention of God then make the
proclamation. On a personal level in our
sphere of influence we are the connector when we observe something that is not
in line with heaven; a sickness, and injustice, a lack of provision we have
been given the power of attorney to use the name of Jesus. “Ask the Father anything in my name and He
will give it to you.” Just remember
that; “If we know the will of God then we know that He hears our prayers and if
we know that He hears our prayers then we know that we the desire that we ask
of Him.” He won’t give us what we
want! “He Is THE WAY, THE TRUTH, AND THE
LIFE,” He can only manifest in line with his own nature. That’s why Jesus told us to seek first the
Kingdom. Know who and what I AM is and you will also be able to claim I AM.
Give us today our daily bread…this is a Hebrew idiom meaning
everything we need in regards to our daily sustenance.
Forgive us our trespasses…if you try to be something that you are
not called to be or try to exert dominion over another human being you need to
ask forgiveness and Forgive those who try to be you or take dominion over you
unlawfully. This is another exercise in
our authority. We actually have the
privilege to tell God how to treat us. because he will treat us the way we treat others.
Lead us not into temptation; this is God battling for us…usually
our prayer would be something like; next time the temptation comes, give me discernment so I don’t fall into the trap. He will do
it for you.
Deliver us from evil; Grace is God standing between you and the
temptation. He will keep Satan busy with
other things. If you recognize your bondage, get out of denial and let him know that you are enjoying this sin you have fallen into but you recognize it is also keeping you from the glory that he wants to impart to you. Ask him to do what you can’t do for yourself, and deliver you from this evil that has encroached upon you. Then patiently watched how God does the work for you and you will discover how intimate and how much he actually cares about you.
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the Glory…God holds all
the power and He will only release the power when we discover what His will is and
want it is that He wants to accomplish.
Our authority is a partnership where we are the Amen People, when we
know what His will is we get to say Amen; let it be. Even Jesus said; “I only do what I see my
Father do and I only say what I hear my father say.”
